This band came from a number of teen who often gathered together in one corner of the Sumedang city and have the same hobby disparities.

To further develop the ability to play each member, since 2001 they agreed to form a band and the band were given the name cornell band.

The name is chosen with consideration that in addition to the Sumedang city not only known as the "city Tahu", they also want to take the elements of nature - is one of the band's name itself is derived from the name one of the most popular figures in the history of the city Roebourne, namely Prince Kornel. This is one of the award against the city they have rendered the Roebourne unite them in a positive activity.

Cornell is a pop alternative band. With experience in the various music events in the West Java, they admitted to enliven ready to plunge the indonesian music.

Band ini berawal dari sejumlah anak muda yang sering ngumpul bareng di salah satu sudut kota Sumedang dan sama-sama mempunyai hobi bermusik.

Untuk lebih mengembangkan kemampuan bermusik masing-masing anggota yang telah terasah sejak SMU, sejak tahun 2001 mereka sepakat untuk membentuk sebuah grup band yang diberi nama cornell band.

Nama ini dipilih dengan pertimbangan bahwa selain agar kota Sumedang tidak hanya dikenal sebagai “kota Tahu”, mereka juga ingin mengangkat unsur-unsur yang bersifat lokal – salah satunya adalah nama band sendiri yang berasal dari nama salah satu figur yang populer dalam sejarah kota Sumedang, yaitu Pangeran Kornel. Ini adalah salah satu bentuk penghargaan mereka terhadap kota Sumedang yang telah berjasa mempertemukan mereka dalam satu kegiatan positif.

Adapun aliran musik yang diusung cornell band adalah pop alternative. Dengan pengalaman telah mengikuti berbagai event musik di Jawa Barat, mereka mengaku siap terjun meramaikan jagad musik indonesia.
